LAKE FOREST, Calif., February 1, 2006—Vue Technology, Inc., the leading provider of item-level RFID solutions, today announced the appointment of Ted Smith, former chairman and CEO of FileNet, as Vue Technology’s newest board member. Smith joins the Vue team to offer his expertise and leadership as the company rolls out its TrueVUE™ RFID Platform to manufacturers and retailers.

After founding FileNet in 1982, Smith led the company as chairman and CEO until 1998, continued as chairman through 2000 and remains a member of the board of directors. Previously, Smith served as president and CEO of Basic Four Corporation, a small business computer manufacturer, from 1975 to 1981. During this time, he was also a director of Basic Four's parent corporation, MAI, a New York Stock Exchange listed company. Under Smith’s management, Basic Four grew from $40 million to $220 million in product revenue with over 20,000 customers worldwide.

Smith is also chairman of the board of the MIND Institute, a non-profit research spin-off from UC Irvine. MIND provides software for educational video games and music training for 20,000 California elementary students in order to facilitate math learning and improved math test scores.
